The Congress of the People (COP) has made an out-of-court settlement of a half a million dollars with the State broadcaster, CNMG with respect to a breach of a contract for a political broadcast.
The COP, which is a member of the governing coalition, wrote CNMG last month seeking compensation for a breach of contract.
The party claimed it paid the station $218,500 for a live broadcast of its political rally between the hours of 2 pm and 5 pm on November 3, 2007.
However, the station broadcast only part of the election rally - one hour from 2 to 3 pm, instead of the contracted three-hour broadcast. CNMG had a delayed broadcast of the rally from 8 pm to 11 pm.
COP's letter demanded a refund of the contract amount and an additional $150,000 in damages for breach of contract.
The CNMG board acknowledged that it was wrong and agreed to the demands of the party.
