T&T congratulates new Jamaica PM, re-elected Argentine leader

Acting Prime Minister Winston Dookeran has sent sent congratulations to the new Prime Minister of Jamaica, Andrew Holness, who on Sunday was sworn in as Jamaica’s ninth and youngest Prime Minister.
Holness has succeeded Bruce Golding as both the head of government and leader of the governing Jamaica Labour Party (JLP).

Dookeran encouraged Holness to use his "youthful energy" to lead the people of Jamaica, while advancing the goal of Regional integration.

"On behalf of Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar who is presently attending the CHOGM in Perth, Australia, Minister Dookeran assured the Jamaican Prime Minister of Trinidad & Tobago’s on-going support, as together the Governments of the Region pursue development strategies which will boost the Region’s economic environment and ensure the prosperity of all the peoples of the Caribbean," Dookeran said in a media release.

The acting Prime Minister also congratulated Cristina Fernández de Kirchner on her re-election as President of Argentina.
Fernández de Kirchner convincingly retained leadership of Argentina in a landslide victory at the polls on Sunday capturing 53% of the votes.

Dookeran said her re-election is a testament to "the faith and confidence reposed in her by the people of Argentina, as Mrs de Kirchner has been credited with spreading the wealth of the booming economy of Argentina with all her people."

He extended congratulations on behalf of Prime Minister Kamla Persad Bissessar, and on behalf of the Government and People of Trinidad & Tobago, stating that Trinidad & Tobago stands ready "to share perspectives and partner with Argentina, as we continue to expand linkages with the Latin American Region in the search for solutions to the common challenges facing our peoples."
