Keith Rowley has turned down an offer from Jack Warner of the centre of Excellence in Macoya to hold a PNM public meeting.
The Works and Infrastructure Minister, who owns the centre, issued a statement Wednesday making the offer to the Opposition leader for the PNM to use the indoor facilities for free. Warner called it a "goodwill gesture".
He was responding to Rowley's charge that the People's Partnership government was behind a decision by Commissioner of Police Dwayne Gibbs to refuse the PNM permission to hold a political meeting Friday evening in Belmont.

Warner assured Rowley and the PNM that there is no political interference in the denial of his application to hold the meeting at Piggott Corner.
"The People's Partnership Government will never interfere with nor seek to influence the Office of the Commissioner of Police in any matter especially as in those related to the politics and politicians of Trinidad and Tobago," Warner said.
He also offered to assist in the transportation of PNM supporters who want to attend the meeting "in a fully air conditioned space that comfortably holds over 10,000 persons."
He added, "This I offer in good faith to show the extent to which I am prepared to go to allow Dr. Rowley to convince the national community of his irrelevance to local politics one more time."
