However she trimmed it back to a one-day visit as a result of her commitments in connection with the existing State of Emergency.
A media release from the office of the PM MOnday said the original seven-day schedule included meetings with US Secretary of State, Hilary Clinton and British Prime Minister, David Cameron as well as the launch of the UNDP Human Development Report on Citizens Security in Trinidad and Tobago. She had also planned to attend a formal reception hosted by President Obama and Mrs. Obama.
Persad-Bissessar left on Sunday afternoon to deliver the national statement in the plenary of the High-Level Meeting on the Prevention and Control of Non-Communicable Diseases on Monday at the 66th Session of the United Nations General Assembly.

She one -day visit includes participation in the Interactive Panel discussion on the achievements and challenges in the prevention and control of NCD, hosted by Heads of State and Governments of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) in collaboration with PAHO/WHO.
Her packed one-day scheduled also includes the High Level Colloquium on Women, which promotes the involvement of women at the international level.
Persad-Bissessar leaves New York Monday night and will be back in Trinidad early Tuesday morning. She will hold a news conference at the VIP lounge at the Piarco International Airport at 6.30 am.
Jack Warner will act as Prime Minister until then.
