Letter: Who was doing all the killing?

When the recent State of Emergency was declared, I breathed a sigh of relief and said, "Thank God; at long last".

I promised myself from the start that I would be indoors by 7 p.m. and that I would make no complaint or comment. I would let the situation run its course, however long, and pray for its success.

Now though, I feel compelled to break my silence, because I am sick and tired and totally fed up with all the ostriches who are finally taking their heads out of the sand and choosing daily to ostracise the Government and hurl accusations of racial profiling; of targeting our young black men.

Well, allow me to pose a question or two to all these naysayers. Just who was it committing all those murders both day and night on the streets of Trinidad and Tobago? Who was robbing and killing innocent law-abiding citizens in their homes and businesses?

Was it old white men? Was it ET and some of his fellow creatures come down from above? Was it the Eskimos grown tired of sitting on the ice?
