Jack Warner said on Saturday people are trying to undermine the state of emergency for purely political reasons.
The Works minister and chairman of the United National Congress (UNC) was speaking at a gathering at his Chaguanas West constituency.
He said the majority of citizens are quite happy with the state of emergency (and the curfew.
And he pledged that the Government would not allow detractors to cause it to shift away from its priority, which is the safety and security of nationals.
The MP also critcised Opposition MPs for failing to adequately represent the views of their constituents, noting that the feedback he is getting from opposition areas is that the vast majority of people in those areas welcome of the emergency measures.

“People have faith and belief in the system. They now enjoy a peace of mind which they did have not have for many years,” Warner said.
