Engineers have repaired the Virgin Atlantic jumbo jet that blew a tire in Tobago Thursday night. The plane is scheduled to take off for Gatwick Airport, London, Saturday morning.
The Boeing 747-400 was disabled on Thursday night when it entered a taxiway that was closed for construction. No one was hurt but it caused an unexpected delay for more than 400 passengers who had to spend the night in Tobago.
Media reports state that engineers examined the plane and decided to replace all the wheels in the landing gear before declaring it safe to fly.
The Trinidad and Tobago Civil Aviation Authority is conducting an inquiry into the accident.
