PP government releases data on infrastructure projects

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Communication has released data on some transportation projects that the People's Partnership Government either has completed or has on the table:
  • $7 million road for Freeport 
  • $260 millions spent on 64 roads and 107 drains. 
  • Thirty-eight new bus routes were opened with the use of 85 buses and with the employ of 200 new bus drivers. 
  • Bridges: Duff Rd bridge (Hardbargain), Garth Rd (Williamsville), Matura ($9 millions), Brasso-Caparo bridge, etc. 
  • $59 million highway bypass in St Helena. 
  • $22 million runway instrument lighting system at Crown Point. 
  • $150 million extension of Churchill Roosevelt Highway from O'Meara Rd to Demerara Rd. 
  • $119 million Penal/Quinam Road Network. 
  • $30 million fund to support emergency dredging of watercourses. 
  • $ 21 millions for Cable High Tension Barrier System for the medians on Solomon Hochoy Highway and Uriah Butler Highway. 
  • Contractors to get $1.5 billion lifeline owed to them for projects completed. 
  • $750 millions for road repairs throughout the country ($30 millions for Sando East, $5 millions for Diego Martin West, $13 millions for Diego Martin North/East, $44 millions for Moruga/Tableland, Arima ($16 millions), Caroni Central ($23 millions), Cumuto/Manzanilla($25 millions), Diego Martin Central ($28 millions), Laventille East/Morvant ($5 millions), La Brea ($11 millions), Mayaro ($21 millions), Naparaima ( $29 millions)
  • $519 million for construction of an Overpass near the intersection of the Grand Bazaar and the Uriah Butler-Churchill Roosevelt Interchange to reduce traffic congestion 
  • $7.2 billions for Point Fortin Highway to be funded by LOANS 
  • The repaving and rehabilitation of the Torrib Tabaquite Road and St John’s Road. 
  • $100 million facelift for Couva Overpass. 
  • $72 millions for additional lane for North-bound section of Uriah Butler Highway. 
  • $ 42 millions for hi-tech National Traffic Management System. 
  • $1.7 million for upgrade to Laventille Road. 
  • $ 100 millions for cleaning clogged drains (30,000 workers) Local Govt Ministry.
