Warner charges that a new company is spying on the government; company calls it a lie

Jack Warner told Parliament Friday a local security company has been spying on the Government.  

The Works and Transport minister made the allegation when he spoke in the debate on a bill to amend the Anti-Terrorism Act.

"On 9-11 Fitz Street, Woodbrook, there is a company called Policing Defence and Medical Solutions Ltd., Warner said.

"It is operated, all I would say, by two Josephs, nothing more than that. Mr Speaker, this company has retained the services of two former British SAUTT officers. I have their names, Mr Speaker, but I would give you their phone numbers," the minister added.

"This company and these men have brought surveillance equipment, among other things, and I'm advised they are spying on the Government," Warner claimed. 

He told legislators this is a matter that needs to be investigated.

The Express newspaper said it contacted the company's managing director who described the claim as "lies".

"What Mr Warner said is false and based on a vindictive report from an unreliable source and it will embarrass him," Gary Howard, of Complete Policing, Defence and Medical Solutions Ltd. was quoted as saying.

"It's not true. As simple as that. The company is owned by a couple of ex-SAUTT officers and some Trinidadians and none of us have trained in that capability," he told the people.

The Express said Howard explained that the company, which started operations in September, does not have surveillance equipment and operates from a virtual office providing law enforcement security and medical solutions. 

He said there are no Josephs associated with the company. He said the company is considering legal action. 

Warner's statement and the reporting of it are protected under Parliamentary Privilege and are not subject to legal action.
