PM's husband being treated for cardiac disease

The husband of Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar, Dr Gregory Bissessar, underwent a coronary angiogram Friday at the St Clair Medical Centre. The results show that he has clogged arteries.

The procedure uses X-ray imaging to see the heart's blood vessels and help diagnose cardiac illness.

Cardiologists will examine the detailed results of the tests to determine the best treatment for Dr Bissessar's condition. One option will be angioplasty; the other is surgery.

The Prime Minister visited her husband during the day. Officials say she will not be taking any time off work to attend to Dr Bissessar.
