Letter: AG made right move on eTeck lawsuit

The expansion of the office of the Attorney General has been in the making for some time as the previous Attorney General featured prominently in corruption investigations.

I am pleased to see Attorney General Anand Ramlogan maintain and improve on this rich tradition. The People’s Partnership Government campaigned on the issue of political corruption and the patience of the population is wearing thin.

The DPP and the Commissioner of Police seem to think they are not accountable to us and hence their silence in the midst of swirling, raging waters that encircle the numerous scandals that rocked the PNM government (church at Guanapo Heights; Calder Hart and the Udecott fiasco; Tarouba stadium).
The Government has no control over the criminal prosecutorial process.

The AG has therefore done the right thing in pursuing civil law cases for fraud and negligence against top officials in the former administration.

The loss of over $30 million by eTecK is nothing to sneeze about and I congratulate the AG for the strong stance he has taken in pursuing corruption in this state corporation.
