JYOTI is saddened to report that another well-known media personality in Trinidad and Tobago has died. Allyson Hennessy died late Saturday night after a prolonged illness.
Allison was best know for her work on what was Trinidad and Tobago Television (TTT) where she produced and hosted shows like Community Dateline. She also was the host a highly popular cooking show.
She is the third former TTT employee to die in the past week. Jamaluddin Samad, a respected television cameraman and technical director, died on Thursday. Former TTT engineer Gus Shannon also died last week.
I worked with all three of them at during my career in television in Trinidad. Allison, Samad and Gus were dear friends who contributed significantly to the success of TTT as a national broadcaster.
During the week, I also learned of the death of another dear friend, former PNM cabinet minister Ken Valley, who passed away on Friday after losing a battle with cancer. Ken and I grew up in our little village of Mc Bean and we remained friends although we didn't always share the same political views.
I wish to extend my deepest condolences to their families and friends.

Great article Jai. It's nice to honour people who have contributed to community development. May you rest in peace Allison. I always listened to your TV shows and I never missed your show on Channel 4. Our little village in central Trinidad, Mc Bean will surely missed Kenneth. I remember him as a Teacher-Monitor at Exchange R.C School, and his great love for education and personal and professional development as he struggled to achieve success in the academic by studying under the street lights in front of his home on Old Southern Main Road, Mc Bean with his friends as they prepared for GCE and A Levels. He also taught an after-school class, preparing children in the community for Common Entrance Examination. Kenneth you are truly missed. May you Rest in Peace.
