El Socorro traffic lights to be removed on Monday

The traffic lights at El Socorro on the Churchill-Roosevelt Highway are coming down on Monday, May 9.

It's the last of the lights on the stretch of highway from the junction of the Uriah Butler Highway.

With the removal of those lights there will be a free flow of traffic into Port of Spain from that junction until the lights at the market on the Beetham Highway.

The Works and Transport Ministry has advised everyone using the highway to watch for signs indicating changes in the traffic pattern

The access to El Socorro road from the highway would now be through the Aranguez Overpass.

Anyone who needs additional information or clarification can check the ministry's website at www.mowt.gov.tt or call the PURE Unit at 638-4038.

Also on Monday, the ministry will begin Building an additional lane on the eastbound section of the Churchill-Roosevelt highway from Trincity to the Golden Grove intersection.

The project will take four months to complete and will cause some traffic disruptions between seven in the morning and half pas three in the afternoon.
