Attorney General Anand Ramlogan on Friday defended FIFA Vice President Jack Warner saying there is no evidence to show that his cabinet colleague has committed any sin.
He there are allegations against him, which is not unusual.
"This is not the first time allegations have been made against him," Ramlogan said. "Allegations have been made before within the bosom of FIFA and he has come out of it with his integrity intact.”
However he added that if any evidence emerges that might implicate Warner, Prime Minister Kamkla Persad-Bissessar will deal with it.
Ramlogan said. “FIFA is not run by the Government and it would be premature for us as the T&T Government to make any public pronouncements as it relates to Warner on a matter we know nothing about.”
The AG told reporters the allegations against the UNC chairman are different from the issue that caused the Prime Minister to fire Mary King as planning minister.
The AG told reporters the allegations against the UNC chairman are different from the issue that caused the Prime Minister to fire Mary King as planning minister.
"She was part of the Government and we knew what had happened in that matter,” the AG said. “It would be unfair to Warner for us to make any sort of pronouncement against him and his character."
Persad-Bissessar fired King as a Senator and minister after King's ministry gave a $100,000 contract to a company in which her husband and son had strong interests. She had never declared the potential conflict and did not reveal her connection with the company until the media exposed the matter.
