Photo Story: People's Partnership leaders reaffirm commitment to coalition

Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar met on Wednesday with the five leaders of the People’s Partnership Coalition at her office at the Red House at, on the eve of the first anniversary of the historic Fyzabad accord that established the partnership.

In a statement Thursday she said:

“When we were coming together, many people had asked whether a five-party coalition could hold together. But today (Wednesday) as we approach our one year anniversary, I say we have not only held together but I believe that we have grown stronger and we grow from strength to strength.”

The Fyzabad accord was signed on April 21, 2010 at Charlie King Junction by Persad-Bissessar on behalf of her United National Congress (UNC), Congress of the People (COP) leader Winston Dookeran, Errol McLeod of the Movement for Social Justice, Ashworth Jack, leader of the Tobago Organisation of the People (TOP) and NJAC's Makandal Daaga.

The Fyzabad Declaration contains principles and values to which five parties subscribe.

In a media release the People’s Partnership pledged "its ongoing commitment to selflessness, integrity, objectivity, accountability, democracy, honesty, dialogue, social justice and respect for institutions."
