Jack takes infrastructure campaign to three more constituencies Sunday

Caroni East Member of Parliament, Dr Tim Gopeesingh, left, chats with Minister of Works and Transport, Jack Warner, after inspecting a bridge at Esmeralda Road, Cunupia.

Works and Transport minister Jack Warner will be in the Point-a-Pierre, Oropouche West and Fyzabad constituencies Sunday to start work on more projects in the national infrastructure campaign.

On Saturday he moved into two more neglected communities to initiate work on the rehabilitation of roads, bridges, and drains.

Warner started his road improvement campaign on Friday where work started in the Oropouche East and Tabaquite Constituencies.

His first stop Saturday was in the Caroni East Constituency, where he was joined by Education Minister Dr Tim Gopeesingh, who is also the MP for the areas.

The meeting point was at Mount Plasir Road, which according to Dr Gopeesingh, had been neglected for more than 25 years.

Anxious residents thanked their MP and Warner for coming to the rescue of the community. Warner praised the residents, pointing out that they did not have to resort to the burning of tyres or the blocking of roads.

He said, “You kept the faith, and as the saying goes, if something is good, it is worth waiting for.”

Warner pointed out that since this is not an election year the rehabilitation work is not an election ploy. He said all Ministers have been mandated by Prime Minister, Kamla Persad-Bissessar, to deliver to the people, and that is what he is doing.

“Can you imagine we have done all this in our first year in Government? Could you imagine what we would achieve after five years?”

Warner said he is not only concentrating on the constituencies of the 29 MPs in the People’s Partnership. “That is a thing of the past. I have gotten representation from MPs from the PNM, and I did give an undertaking that my Ministry would conduct works in those areas.”
