Case dismissed. Accused off the hook as Greens fail to show up to testify

A Tobago magistrate on Monday dismissed the case against the man accused of attempted murder in the brutal attack on British couple Peter and Murium Green in Tobago two years ago.

Clint Alexis, 26, was accused of brutally attacking the couple on August 1, 2009 at their Bacolet Gardens home in Tobago.

Magistrate Annette Mc Kenzie dismissed the case because the Greens, who are key witnesses in the matter, were not present to testify against the accused. She said without their evidence the case could not be successfully prosecuted.

The Greens told local media they had been advised by their doctors not to travel to Tobago. They added that they submitted a medical report to the court in Tobago.

"Our physicians here in the UK said our ability to travel at this stage was still not possible due to our medical condition. My wife has had much more surgery on her face and is still suffering from post traumatic stress syndrome and we still suffer from nightmares," Peter Green told CNMG news.
