I was utterly horrified to see a letter from one Jonathan Lee given prominence in one of our leading dailies chastising our Prime Minister for wasting valuable time on her Danial Decree when there were, according to him "so many more important things to focus on" (not that he alluded to even one of them!).
Presumably either the editor agrees with him or just wishes to focus on negative feedback on our leader.
There are many of us who write far less trashy letters which never see the light of day, and never did when Patrick Manning was in power either. For example, taking him to book for considering Gillian Bowen's murder, if I remember rightly, as simply "collateral damage".
I appeal to the editorialist to "focus" also.
Don't make someone who considers the murder of an innocent child irrelevant, or makes light of a Prime Minister with feelings and a sense of responsibility feel like a super hero because his letter saw the light of day.
Were it a member of his own family I wonder whether he would have felt the same way?.
I, and many like me, was proud to see that we now have a Prime Minister who is not too busy to get involved in a matter such as this. Murder is an awful thing, but the murder of an innocent child is absolutely heinous.
I wait with bated breath to see whether my contribution will be considered worthy of print also.
