Popular businessman Ramon Naim Sabga died Saturday morning following a crash at the intersection of St Clair Avenue and Alexdra Street, just outside the office of the Prime Minister. He was 70.
Sabga was Managing Director of Naim Sabga Limited.
The head-on collision between Sabga's vehicle and another driven by a 20-year-old St Ann’s man, sent Sabga’s vehicle into a nearby wall, pinning him behind the steering wheel.
Firemen rescued Sabga and took the businessman to the Port-of-Spain General Hospital where he died shortly after one on Saturday morning. An autopsy determined that death was due to massive trauma associated with the accident.
The driver of the vehicle that crashed in Sabga's car is in custody and facing several possible charges including operating a vehicle without a driver’s permit and drunk driving. Reports say the young man fled the scene of the accident. However, police caught him shortly afterwards.
