The Scarborough hospital has so far cost the state $672 million, Health Minister Therese Baptiste-Cornelis told the Senate Tuesday in response to a question by Independent Senator Dr Victor Wheeler.
She explained that the figure represents $155 million paid to NH International and $477 million paid to China Railroad Construction Company. It excludes consultancy fees for project managers, Genivar and Nipdec.
The minister said the hospital is now 84 per cent complete with an anticipated completion date of June 30, with fixed equipment installation expected to be done by the end of September 30. Baptiste-Cornelis said other equipment should be installed one month later.
