The frequency with which Keith Rowley takes political issue with innocent measures while mired in the morass of his party’s scandalous record of flagrant partisan squandermania must make one wonder whether the term “non compos mentis” reflects his state of mind.
Fresh from disgrace at the polls for secret scholarships, massive corruption, hopeless mismanagement and, yes, using every political PR gimmick to salvage the PNM’s descent into oblivion including doing the very same Christmas hampering he now condemns, our Opposition Leader hoarsely proclaims his disapproval of Christmas cheer for the poor.
The financial smorgasbord from which his former leader served himself and party supporters, from priestess to party parasite, was secretly catered and administered and always denied when exposed.
Not even bothering to hide patronage in social assistance grants, unquestioned appropriations were increased to the PM’s allocations and to education and other slush funds that permitted public self-coronation in Woodford Square and almost accomplished a T&T “Air Force One” luxury jet while the sick and wounded lay bed-less and suffering in the corridors of our neglected hospitals and murder stalked the land with drugs and gangs.
To cry “shame” on Dr Rowley is too mild.
How can one hope to justify denouncing Christmas charity? So many of our poor suffer squalor and deprivation while Christmas comes and goes. Words are inadequate to condemn Dr Rowley’s Christmas venom.
But the words of Jesus should be pondered to understand Dr Rowley, for “he can only spend out of his purse what he has in it.”
It is said “Good men are like roses. When pressed, they give of their sweetness.”
Vitriolic bile spews from Dr Rowley in the ambiance of “Peace on earth and goodwill to all men”.
