The demands of leadership sometimes dictate people's life. That was the case Friday - Divali day - when Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar took off for St Lucia on a mercy mission to see the damage caused there by Hurricane Tomas.
She returned home around six in the evening, too late to celebrate the Hindu festival of lights with members of her family at home as she normally does.
Instead she joined her cabinet colleagues and performed "aarti" at Piarco Airport and hosted a small reception for others, including the media, who were present to greeet her on her return.
