Jack to act as PM as Kamla attends state funeral of late Barbados PM

Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar is in Barbados to attend the state funeral of theb late Prime Minister of Barbados, David Thompson who died on October 30 after a lengthy battle with pancreatic cancer.

Foreign Minister Dr Suruj Rambachan is accompanying her along with other cabinet ministers Mary King, John Sandy and government Senator David Abdullah. 
She has also invited cricket icon Brian Lara to be part of the official delegation at the special request of officials in Barbados who noted that Thompson was a big cricket fan.

The funeral takes place at Kensington Oval.

Persad-Bissessar will return home later Wednesday. During her brief absence Works and Transport Minister Jack Warner will be acting Prime Minister. It's the second time he has acted for Persad-Bissessar since the People's partnership government took office in May.
