Jack says Manning owes PM Kamla a personal apology

Jack Warner said Sunday Patrick Manning should have remained silent in Parliament rather than open his mouth only to bring himself into disrepute "as he ruthlessly attempted to assassinate the character of our beloved Prime Minister, the Honourable Kamla Persad Biessessar."

In a media release, the Chaguanas West MP and chairman of the United National Congress (UNC) said November 19 2010 - the day Manning broke his silence in Parliament - "will be recorded as the darkest day in the history of Trinidad and Tobago."

The Works and Transport minister wondered what could have evoked such invective and churned up the cowardly wrath "of one who once appropriated unto himself the title 'Father of the Nation?'"

He said, "The only plausible answer is found in the maxim whom the Gods wish to destroy they first send mad."

Warner said there is much sorrow but no sympathy for the country's former leader.

"The Chaguanas West Constituency stands firmly behind our political leader our beloved Prime Minister, the Honourable Kamla Persad Biessessar and we firmly and strongly denounce the lies concocted by Manic Patrick Manning," Warner stated.

"At the Opening of this Parliament, when I spoke, I advised Patrick Manning to apologise to this nation before he ever speaks in Parliament again...

"Now today he owes this nation two apologies. He also owes our beloved Prime Minister, the Honourable Kamla Persad Biessessar a personal one," he said.
