Fazeer Mohammed crosses from state media to private TV

The national executive of the Congress of the People (COP) has now added its voice to the chorus that is demanding that Caribbean New Media Group (CNMG) reinstate Fazeer Mohammed on its morning show, First Up.

But it seems that the talk show host who was removed from the morning program just over a week ago as part of what the television station called a "cost cutting" exercise is not interested in getting back that job.

He has resigned from CNMG, saying he feels "uncomfortable" at CNMG and is moving to TV6, where he will co-host the private station's popular Morning Edition talk-show. He is expected to start in January.

Mohammed hosted Morning Edition in 2005 and Sporting Edition on Fridays at the station. He had also been a columnist for the Trinidad Express before his move to CNMG.
