T&T to introduce social `care’ package for children

People's Minister Dr Glen Ramadharsingh has announced a "care" package for children affected by crime and other trauma. It's part of the People’s Partnership’s pledge to protect and heal the vulnerable in our society.

“There are so many children whose lives have been impacted upon by crime,” Dr. Ramadharsingh noted. “Yet, at their tender ages, they are left alone to deal with the emotional ravages that such experiences bring."

The minister added, “As part of the government’s, and more specifically, the prime minister’s initiative to nurture, protect and care for our children’s physical, emotional and educational well being, we will be providing professional counseling services to all children affected, in one way or another, by crime against them, their loved ones or in other forms.“

In this regard, Dr. Ramadharsingh and his support staff have begun conducting intense research on the best issue.

”We need to uncover all the necessary information , so the Ministry of the People and Social Development can best serve the needs of our children in this regard. After all, looking after our children’s welfare is one sure way of protecting our future," he said.
