A large turnout is expected Tuesday evening when Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar hosts Trinidadians and Tobagonians who are either resident of studying in the United Kingdom.
There has been much enthusiasm about the event, which is being held at the Chelsea Old Town Hall; scores of people are expected to attend.
The Prime Minister may utilise the opportunity to update her audience of about governance matters in Trinidad and Tobago and her administration’s agenda for change.
She arrived in London Tuesday morning to a warm greeting at the London Hilton, where she is staying.
Hotel officials were enthusiastic about Ms. Persad-Bissessar’s visit. One female executive said she had read about the Prime Minister and was excited about meeting a female leader. “She has done so much,” the female official gushed.
Persad-Bissessar has a busy afternoon at Malborough House, where she will discuss the Commonwealth Economic Partnership Forum with Dr. Mohan Kaul, Director General of the Commonwealth Business Council (CBC).
She will be accompanied at that meeting by Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Suruj Rambachan and Minister of Industry and Trade Stephen Cadiz.
CBC, which promotes trade and investment among Commonwealth countries, sponsors the annual conference, which attracts extensive participation.
The Prime Minister is expected to undertake an overview of the conference, which is due to begin tomorrow morning with a virtual who’s-who of business leaders in the audience. Persad-Bissessar is among four listed speakers at the opening ceremony.
Trinidad and Tobago is aiming to utilise the conference to advocate the enabling environment of investing in Trinidad and Tobago.
The Prime Minister is expected to identify several such factors in her address Wednesday.
