Man stabs woman to death in car showroom as children watch, try to fight back

Two young boys - aged 10 and 11 - fought with an attacker Tuesday who stabbed their mother to death at the woman's workplace before inflicting potentially mortal wounds on himself.

The victim was identified as Sabrina Lalla-Mitchell, 31. Local media reports say she died before paramedics could get her to the San Fernando General hospital, which is just minutes away from the crime scene.

Lalla-Mitchell was divorced earlier this year and had moved to Princes Town with her two sons Saidan and Seph.

Reports say the attack happened in the showroom of Bavarian Motors on Todd Street, San Fernando, where she worked. She had just returned to her workplace after picking up her children at the school.

Witnesses say the assailant approached the woman at her desk. Witnesses said no one expected what happened next. They told local media the man suddenly began stabbing the woman in the showroom while her children and everyone else watched.

The children reportedly begged the man not to attack their mother and tried to fight back, but their efforts were in vain. Nobody else intervened as the man stabbed the woman multiple times.

The attacked has been identified as a fisherman who knew Lalla-Mitchell and had attacked and beaten her in the past. Media reports say he has a criminal record.

The victim was the daughter of Rev Dennis Lalla of San Fernando, a close friend and former spiritual adviser of former prime minister Patrick Manning.
