Michel Trinquier, French Ambassador to Trinidad and Tobago, Admiral Loic Rafaelli and Lieutenant-Colonel Philippe Richer, made a courtesy call on Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar Tuesday during a two-day visit to Trinidad and Tobago.
The French team expressed a willingness to work with the Trinidad and Tobago Government on aspects of Defence Training and Partnering to increase levels of preparedness for unforeseen situations that may arise in Trinidad and Tobago and neighbouring states.
They discussed the role that the military and similar institutions play in encouraging discipline and providing vocational training to young people in an effort to discouraging them from getting involved in crime and inculcating national pride. They cited successful examples of this in French Territories.
The Prime Minister was delighted by the proposals put forward by the French team and assured them that Trinidad and Tobago would be happy to work alongside France to the mutual benefit of both nations.
