Cabinet in marathon session; State Boards, Clico on agenda

The regular meeting of the Trinidad and Tobago cabinet extended late into Thursday night with no media briefing. Media waited several hours for the expected afternoon briefing but were told late in the afternoon that there would be none.

A briefing is expected Friday before the normal sitting of Parliament.

Among the issues on the agenda Thursday were the appointment of several state boards and the contentious Clico issue. On Clico, an interministeial team has presented proposals for cabinet's consideration.

The marathon session caused Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar to cancel a tour of the flood-hit areas in East Port of Spain.
