The Public Service Transport Corporation (PTSC) in Trinidad and Tobago introduced a new bus service Monday morning from San Fernando to the St. Augustine campus of the University of The West Indies (UWI).
It's one of 38 new bus routes that the transit service is introducing by the end of the month.
On Tuesday, Works Minister Jack Warner will Launch the PTSC's Rural Community Bus Service from the Chaguanas Bus Depot at eight in the morning. The bus would run from Chaguanas main road to Felicity.
The new UWI service will operate every week day on an hourly basis, with the first leaving San Fernando at six in the morning with stops at Mon Repos, San Fernando Technical, Gasparillo, Chaguanas, Curepe and UWI. The last bus from the south will leave at three in the afternoon.
The reverse trip will originate at the UWI campus, with the first bus leaving at 6.30 a.m., making the same stops. The one way fare will be TT$8.00.
The PTSC will also launch a similar service to UWI from San Grande in the east. Both routes will offer a great convenience for UWI students who attend classes at various times during the day.
Warner's overall plan to expand the service will provide an additional 20,936 seats daily.
