Wendy's/Arby's Group announced Wednesday that it plans to open its first fast foods restaurant in Trinidad and Tobago in 2011.
It's part of a plan develop 24 Wendy's restaurants in the next 10 years in nine markets throughout the Eastern Caribbean.
The Trinidad franchisee is Dane Darbasie, a restaurant industry insider who has served as leader of a restaurant management company for 12 years.
Darbasie is a former Chief Executive Officer of Prestige Holdings Limited, franchise holders of KFC, Pizza Hut, Long John Silvers, T.G.I. Fridays, TCBY Treats and Mrs Fields Cookies in the Caribbean.
In a news release Wendy's CEO Roland Smith the move is to build on the success of the company's strong performers in Puerto Rico, the Bahamas and Central America.
Wendy's said its other restaurants in the region will be in Antigua, Barbados, Grenada, Guyana, St. Lucia, St. Maarten, St. Vincent and Suriname.
