Transport Minister Jack Warner says Tobago will soon to get a new Licensing Office and the island's Crown Point International Airport and the Scarborough port facilities would be upgraded.
He told reporters the decisions were been made after consultations with the Tobago House of Assembly.
Warner held talks with Chief Secretary Orville London and a THA delegation, the first such encounter between the Central Government and the THA since the People’s Partnership took office.
London, who said he was pleased with the talks, told reporters the team led by Warner supported most of the issues raised by Tobago officials.
“Mr Warner gave the assurance that the Government will continue to subsidise the air and sea bridge between the two islands and to ensure the cost of travel remains affordable to private and commercial passengers. He has committed to further collaborations,” London told reporters.
Warner is looking forward to further discussions with the THA, noting that they would help improve the relationship between his ministry and the PNM-led THA.
London and Secretary of Finance and Enterprise, Dr Anslem London, are leading a THA delegation Wednesday for pre-budget talks with Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar and Finance Minister Winston Dookeran.
