The Works and transport Ministry expects that emergency repairs to the Solomon Hochoy Highway will be completed Monday.
Last Friday a section of the northbound lane washed away after heavy flooding, creating traffic chaos on the highway, which is the main link between Port of Spain and San Fernando. The floods also damaged a section of the southbound lane.
Minister in the works minister Rudy Indarsingh told media Sunday he is satisfied with the progress that contractors are making.
He said workers have repaired the northbound lane and are now tackling the job on the other side. He hopes traffic to be back to normal soon.
