Attorney General Anand Ramlogan and his cabinet colleague National Security Minister John Sandy met Monday with Dwayne Gibbs, the Canadian who has been approved as Trinidad and Tobago's Commissioner of Police (CoP).
The two also met with Jack Ewatski, also a Canadian, one of the country's three Deputy Police commissioners.
The lengthy meetings concluded with agreement on terms and conditions under which the men will work in Trinidad and Tobago.
Ramlogan told media Monday night Ewatski would take up his position as soon as his contract is approved by Cabinet.
"Both Mr Gibbs and Ewatski accepted the terms and condition being offered to them," the AG said.
He said Gibbs has a previous commitment will join the service once he has completed his commitments in Canada. "He has to participate in a competition in triathlon in Canada which is scheduled to take place in mid-September," Ramlogan said.
