SPORT: Sarwan in, Chanderpaul out for Twenty20

Ramnaresh Sarwan will make his return to top-level competitive action, following a recent hamstring injury, when he leads Guyana in the Caribbean Twenty20 Championship, starting later this month.

However Guyana will be without Shivnarine Chanderpaul, their other World-class batsman, for the competition, which will be contested from July 22 to 31 in Barbados and Trinidad.

Sarwan had pulled a hamstring while batting in the second One-day International on May 24 at the Vivian Richards Cricket Ground.

He had previously injured his back on the tour of Australia last November, and was sidelined for close to three months.

The Guyana Cricket Board has remained silent on Chanderpaul’s omission, who is advertised to play for Lancashire in the English County Championship.

Daren Ganga will lead the Trinidad and Tobago national team. Other members are:
  • Samuel Badree
  • Lendl Simmons
  • Sherwin Ganga
  • Adrian Barath
  • Dwayne Bravo
  • William Perkins
  • Darren Bravo
  • Kevon Cooper
  • Navin Stewart
  • Kieron Pollard
  • Dave Mohammed
  • Imran Khan
  • Denesh Ramdin
