In support of a new and equitable political mindset, I respectfully submit the following.
No more blatant display of political partiality by a civil servant is conceivable than that of CoP Philbert as he presided over his ex master's harangue of bussed in CEPEP "troops" in Woodford Square while a no confidence motion was being debated in the Parliament.
Yet not a voice was heard in protest.
Since under such spineless leadership the T&T police has proven an ineffective tool against crime of any nature, AG Ramlogan's recent public reaction to Philbert's inaction in Guanapo was but a logical, necessary and long overdue expression of the outrage and disgust felt by every right thinking member of society.
It should have triggered a chorus of support from Parliamentary colleagues and every other patriotic citizen. That none such was reported and official reaction, led by Keith Rowley, has been more than critical is tangible proof of the malign legacy of the late Eric Williams.
It was he who taught us all, since 1956, to consider any PNM abuse, constitutional or otherwise, as above reproach while holding to strict observance any rivals or critics to laws and conventions which they have traditionally ignored - viz, Manning's coat of arms, hounding a CJ out of office, etc.
It is precisely because of reactions like those of the new AG, voicing disgust rather polite and ineffective protest, as was until recently the norm, that my support is unwavering.
The ironic hypocrisy of the Rowley reaction is easily verified. Had Williams in 1956 conducted his campaign within the legal and moral parameters of that era, the message of his opposition would not have been denied to the electorate via orchestrated menace and heckling by lawless PNM supporters under the benevolent watch of an already politicised police service.
Were it not for that abuse of democracy, it is debateable whether he and the PNM would have won that election and whether T&T would now be in the mess it finds itself.
Since that original PNM victory there has been compelling evidence to support the charge that no ruling dispensation has ever displayed the contempt for either the separation of powers, law and order, or democratic convention as has the PNM in power.
Indeed the true genius of Eric Williams was his success in brainwashing the generations since '56 to accept whatever the PNM did to obtain or retain power but to anticipate the harshest sanctions for any who ever attempted to do likewise!
Within that corrupt inherited mindset lies the genesis of the almost total disrespect for law and order now terrorising the nation.
This was initiated by the Messiah himself when, rather despatch the riot squad to quell his miscreant supporters on Laventille Hill he elected instead to do a pilgrimage on foot to pacify them with further unfulfilled promises.
Clearly, therefore, Rowley as leader of the PNM in opposition is, by his outburst, claiming for his party privileges and immunities which he would deny the rest of society.
That his hypocrisy has found resonance among otherwise intelligent and thinking elements, concerned at the "separation of powers" is but further proof of how successful Williams has proven in his inculcation of distorted perspectives.
In this scenario, whether appropriate or otherwise, Mr. Ramlogan's attack upon PNM stooge Philbert is but a long overdue breath of unpolluted, fresh and bracing air. Damn the protocols and certain news editors.
If T&T, despite it's sadly depleted wealth is ever again to be worth raising our children in, young AG Ramlogan must be emulated, rather than criticised or lectured to by those without the courage to see and tell it as it really is.
Even scholars like Ryan are now admitting that Williams, far from a messiah, was but a false prophet who led his people and a nation into sin, error and degradation,
Chambers was a nonentity, Manning a profligate and amoral fool and Rowley a regurgitator of Williams' flawed and malign legacy.
None of the foregoing, either in power or in opposition ever had anything to offer T&T save corruption, neglect and criminal anarchy - and we have already had from them more than a fair share of all the latter.
It is thus necessary for the young and fearless among us to abandon the crippling hypocrisy inflicted by a false messiah and still regarded as gospel by cynical corrupt and power hungry acolytes.
It is time the PNM and it's fellow travellers - opportunists all - are made to realise that in this day and age it is no longer possible to sweep (or cart) their sins and indiscretions out of sight.
Indeed, it is confidently anticipated that even the new leader of the Opposition, together with former colleagues, may yet have to answer before the courts they tried to subvert, for said indiscretions.
