Keith Rowley took office Friday as Trinidad and Tobago's Opposition Leader.
The Diego Martin West MP worked toward this goal and is now promising to keep a close eye open on the new government and he prepares to rebuild the People's National Movement (PNM) and get it ready to take back government.
Rowley has the support of the full PNM Parliamentary caucus, including former PNM leader Patrick Manning, whose forced resignation opened up the opportunity for Rwley to lead the party, and Colm Imbert, who is considering challenging Rowley for the leadership at the PNM convention on June 27.
Rowley told the Trinidad Express his party will keep a keen eye on what the government is doing and pay particular attention to how the Kamla government is spending the people's money.
Rowley's caucus will include MPs who did not support him in his open warfare with Manning but that doesn't bother him because he believes now is the time to build bridges and rebuild the party.
