Police in Trinidad and Tobago are talking with the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) on the fate of businessmen Ish Galbaransingh and Steve Ferguson who are wanted in the United States on criminal charges.
Bail for both men expired on June 7 when the Privy Council refused to grant an order to block their extradition to Florida to face charges of bid rigging and corruption related to the $1.6 billion Piarco Airport Development Project.
Acting Police Commissioner James Philbert told the Trinidad Express police had been looking into the matter since the Privy Council decision. "At this time we are in conference with the DPP. We need to get the correct directive," Philbert told the Trinidad Express.
Attorney General Anand Ramlogan told the Express "the revocation or variation of bail is a judicial act over which I have no control or jurisdiction. This is therefore a matter for the DPP".
