Nicholas was the UNC candidate for Diego Martin North/East in the May 24 general election and came close to defeating former PNM Works Minister Colm Imbert.
A statement from the Office of the Prime Minister Monday noted that Nicholas will serve as the Government’s spokesman and will have "overall responsibility for day to day interaction with the media to communicate Government’s message to the citizens of Trinidad and Tobago."
The statement added that Nicholas would also be responsible for Government’s information and communication programs, as well as for the formulation of Government’s overall communication strategy "to ensure that citizens are kept up to date and in touch with the activities of the Government."
Nicholas will have an office in the building used by former Minister of Information, Neil Parsanlal.
