Jack Warner got a rousing welcome when he reported for duty Tuesday as the country's new Works and Transport Minister.
Workers stopped everything in the early afternoon to give the new minister a "rock star" welcome.
When the Chaguanas West MP and his junior minister Couva South MP Rudranath Indarsingh arrived staff greeted them with thunderous applause, the Newsday newspaper reported.
In a brief address, Warner stated that he was humbled at the reception he received.
Warner told reporters he planned to get to work immediately with meetings with senior staff, including the Permanent Secretary.
"I want to know how much money was spent..How much money remained...What contracts were signed in the last months before the General Election was called and if any contracts were signed after the election,” he told reporters.
