Tight race for Tunapuna; Dookeran slightly ahead

An opinion poll done for the Trinidad Guadian gives Congress of the People (COP) leader Winston Dooekran the edge over the PNM's Esther Le Gendre.

The poll by the ANSA McAL Psychological Research Centre at the University of the West Indies in St Augustine asked people to rate each of the two candidates (see graphic above). Dookeran fared better in each of the five categories in the survey.

The centre also polled voters in the barataria/San Juan constsituency where the PNM candidate is Joseph Ross who won the seat in 2007 and Dr Fuad Khan was has won the seat four times for the opposition. he did not contest the 2007 election.

Excellent—17 per cent
Good—28 per cent
Fair—22 per cent
Poor—18 per cent
Extremely poor—14 per cent

For the opposition:

Excellent—13 per cent
Good—20 per cent
Fair—30 per cent
Poor—21 per cent
Extremely poor—9 per cent
