Nothing will stop Manning's defeat: Moonilal

Roodal Moonilal using picong and hard facts Sunday afternoon in Chaguanas to tell supporters of the opposition why they must vote out Patrick Manning and the People's National Movement (PNM).

"Like everything in the Manning’s government - elections also came like a thief in the night," he said.

"He made a Sobers declaration," he declared adding that with Manning, "everything falling apart."

Moonilal spoke about the grim reality that is facing Trinidad and Tobago today and promised that "We will rise to the light."

He added, "In our land there is no water, there is no justice. We must end the long night of murder and mayhem. There is no security, as of this hour 173 citizens have been brutally murdered in a mere 122 days of this year, a murder every 17 hours. This is our darkest hour."

Moonlial slammed Manning for ignoring the plight of citizens and "throwing lavish and expensive vote-getting parties in his multi million dollars mansion....like Nero, fiddling away while Rome was burning."

He spoke about the value of unity, calling it the will of God to save Trinidad and Tobago from Patrick Manning.

"We the members of the UNC today join hands with our brothers and sisters in the COP, the patriots the TOP, our comrades in the MJS and the liberators of the NJAC. We are here because our conscience leaves us no choice.

"We are here to raise our voices in protest and to raise our voices in unity because the time has come when silence is betrayal."

He said the platform on ther side is full of commess and bacchanal "but we are here this afternoon for serious business.

"With Manning there will be no debate on crime, UDECOTT, Calder Hart, health care, education, on water, on traffic management on TTRA, Property tax, the Smelter Plant – because Patrick faid Kamla!!"

He added, "He run from her in the House, did not want to debate the Motion of No Confidence, he run from her out of the House – he want no TV debate. He refuses to allow the country to judge the leaders by the quality of their ideas but prefers to resort to mudslinging, innuendos and outright lies."

Moonilal also talked about the latest government investment.

"Only 24 hours ago the Manning government squandered another TT $315 in a buyout of Air Jamaica!! This is a spectacular and scandalous waste of public funds. Air Jamaica has a debt of TT $12 Billion. He noted that Imbert told the Parliament in February 2010 that the government will not pump money into Air Jamaica.

"This after spending over $1 Billion to restructure CAL. You the people raised your voice in protest when Manning tried to buy a private jet. He dissolved the Parliament and brought an entire airline with 9 aeroplanes. Now he has 9 private jets!!"

Moonilal said. "That is the contempt for the people – no debate in Parliament. No transparency. They alone know what is good for the nation. When we protested against 1 Smelter he said they building 6!!! This is contempt.

"They do not have their priorities right... the PNM are truly Pirates of the Caribbean! They are drowning in incompetence and corruption...But God is great; he brought an end to Manning’s vocation of agony.

"The writing is on the wall...the only way he could win if they tief the wall...by the tens of thousands assembled here we tell Manning that “we will fear no evil” for there comes a time when people get tired of being trampled over by the iron feet of oppression.

"We are tired of the broken promises of Imbert. We are tired of the histrionics of Tesheira. We are tired of the plotting of John Jeremie and we are tired of the incompetence of Martin Joseph. So when Manning says “We ready Now” We tell him – “We tired NOW”...

"We are tired of going through the long night of captivity and the days of oppression, today we stand on the verge of the daybreak of freedom and justice and equality," he said.

"When the history books are written, someone will record that in 2010 there was a woman of courage who inspired a nation by her unstoppable crusade for unity, a woman of deep commitment who brought a sense of pride and confidence in all our people, a woman of compassion who brought light to those who sat in darkness, a woman of unshakeable conviction who inspired hope for a better tomorrow and who taught us to believe in ourselves and to believe that - WE WILL RISE!"
