Kamla 40 points ahead of Manning in opinion poll

An opinion conducted for the Trinidad Guardian by the UWI ANSA McAL Psychological Research Centre from April 23 to 25 suggests that Kamla Persad-Bissessar has a huge margin over Patrick Manning as the popular choice for Prime Minister.

It gives her 51 per cent support among respondents with Manning at 13 per cent.

And in response to a question of whether the United National Congress (UNC) leader would be an effective prime minister, 58 per cent said yes, 17 per cent said no and 25 per cent didn't know.

The poll was conducted among 503 respondents 18 years and over with 37 per cent Afro-Trinidadians, 41 per cent Indo-Trinidadians, 21 per cent Mixed persons and one per cent other, the Guardian reported.

It said the margin of error is plus or minus 4 per cent.

Several unscientific online polls also show Persad-Bissessar well ahead.

A JYOTI poll asks the question: Would you vote for the UNC-COP coalition on May 24? There are four possible responses: Yes, No, Undecided and Won't vote.

The result so far from 109 votes is:
  • YES - 85 (77%)
  • No 16 (14%)
  • Undecided 3 (2%)
  • Won't vote 5 (4%)
The poll is designed so that no one can vote more than once and it cannot be edited or changed in any way. You can vote in the JYOTI poll until May 23.
