Kamla Persad-Bissessar is spending the Easter weekend in Florida where she will be attending a fund-raising event and meeting nationals of Trinidad and Tobago who live in that part of North America.During her absence, Dr Suruj Rambachan will act as leader of the United National Congress (UNC). Rambachan is one of three deputy leaders of the party. The others are Dr Roodal Moonilal and Lyndira Oudit.
A media release from the UNC Wednesday stated:
“Mrs Persad-Bissessar will be the featured speaker at the fund raiser to be held on Saturday at the Warehouse Ballroom, Lauderhill in Florida. It is entitled, ‘An Evening with Kamla Persad-Bissessar — 'Kamla for Prime Minister'....
“Deputy Political Leader Dr Suruj Rambachan will act as Political Leader during her absence."
