Chairman of the United National Congress (UNC) Jack Warner kept a promise and dropped in to visit folks in rural Barrackpore for Easter.
The Chaguanas West MP Jack Warner made the promise during his UNC election campaign in January.
Warner visited four recreation grounds and joined families enjoying cricket and football on Good Friday.
It's part of his pioneering effort to twin the constituencies of Chaguanas West and Princes Town South/Tableland.
"The idea of twinning any two communities has always been borne out of the need to create a better environment for the communities, for the villages and for the people," he told the families during his visit.
"Twinning of these two political constituencies provides the opportunity for the development of cultural, social, educational, governmental, sporting and other capacities and to strengthen the bonds of friendship between our own," Warner added.
Warner also the competing teams in a friendly match between married men and bachelors.
He told the players he is disappointed with the state of facilities for sport.
"I am deeply saddened and disappointed that the current Member of Parliament for the area, Peter Taylor, neglected the communities of Cumuto and Rochard Douglas roads in Barrackpore as I am seeing that our youths have very little proper recreational facilities available to them.
"Most of the grounds I have visited were either without lights, dusty roads leading to some of them and one ground at Mandingo Road is caving away with landslips," he said.
He promised that he would be back to help provide better recreational facilities.
