Suncor Energy of Calgary, Canada has agreed to sell its natural gas assets in Trinidad and Tobago for CAN$396 million (TT$2.4 billion).
The sale is subject to approval by the Government of Trinidad and Tobago. Suncor is selling to Centrica plc through its subsidiary Centrica Resources (Armada) Limited.
Sources say the deal will be completed on or about the end of the first quarter of this year.
It is part of Suncor's strategic business alignment, which includes plans to divest of a number of non-core assets.
Its divestments include certain natural gas assets in Western Canada and the United States Rockies and certain non-core North Sea assets, including all assets in The Netherlands.
Suncor Energy Inc operations include oil sands development and upgrading, conventional and offshore oil and gas production, petroleum refining, and product marketing under the Petro-Canada brand.
