As the cornerstone of Patrick Manning’s Vision 20/20 implementation, the conduit for excesses, and the arch villain of serial travesties, Calder Hart leaves his friend in tatters.
Manning must now resign and return to the polls. His grandiose strutting is now over. It is not enough to step aside in favour of another in his party. All have been tainted by his career.
Credit is due to MP Ramesh L. Maharaj who under Panday first exposed the scandalous patronage exercised by Hart and presented vital information to trigger the Uff Commission.
In the absence of Manning’s resignation, the President would be advised to remove him and offer the post to another in his cabinet.
It is to be hoped that SAUTT understands its fealty to the President.
Failure to act decisively may jeopardise the peace of the country.
