Kamla Persad-Bissessar was in excruciating pain Saturday but she still went to Couva for the "Thank You" party organized by the United National Congress (UNC) to express gratitude for the support members gave during last month's internal election that propelled her into the leadership of the party.
The UNC leader suffered a serious shoulder injury Friday after a fall in the tea room of Parliament. She was treated at the St Clair Private Hospital and discharged Saturday. The specialist attending to her reported that her injury will take some time to heal.
In a stamenet Sunday, UNC Chairman Jack Warner said Persad Bissessar "is fine and in full health".
He added, "She attended last night's People's Party at Rienzi Complex where she was greeted by thousands. Though in some pain, her indomitable will perseveres. No fall can stop our collective determination to bring resolve to the plunge of an entire Republic. The work continues unabated."
