New opposition Chief Whip Jack Warner has written to his predecessor, Dr Hamza Rafeeq, expressing his deepest appreciation for the contribution he made in the national Parliament of Trinidad and Tobago.
Warner replaced Rafeeq last month while Rafeeq was away from the House of Representatives on medical leave.
Sometimes the best way to tell a story is to hear it, unfiltered, from the original source, so we are publishing Warner's letter.
To: Dr Hamza Rafeeq, Member of Parliament, Caroni Central
From: Jack Warner, Opposition Chief Whip, United National Congress
Subject: My Thanks and Appreciation
Date: 10th February, 2010
Dear Dr Rafeeq,
It is with heart filled gratitude and love that I express my profound thanks to you for your sterling contributions as Chief Whip for the United National Congress in Parliament.
Your stewardship has been beyond reproach and your deportment has always reflected the behaviour of an honourable gentleman and for that you must be commended. As with life, change, the only constant is inevitable.
In all humility, I deem it a privilege to have received the baton from you who have run your leg of the race so well.
I hope that the wisdom you have acquired during your stewardship will not be lost to the Party but as we seek to build on what we have, I hope that you will avail your knowledge to me and the Party at large so that we can keep growing from strength to strength.
I know that you are not in the best of health at this time but my prayers are with you. I wish you a speedy recovery. Your presence has been sorely missed.
Please do all that you can to enhance your health because we need you to join us in the struggle to make this country a better place for all.
Wishing you the best of everything that you wish yourself.
With kindest regards,
Yours faithfully,
Jack Warner.
Opposition Chief Whip
